Registration for the 2021 baseball season is now open. Please register by clicking on the link below at your earliest convenience so that we can start planning our teams for the upcoming season. Tryouts will be held either May 1-2 or May 8-9.
We are busy planning for the upcoming 2021 Legion baseball season and would like to share some information. As with everything during the COVID-19 pandemic please understand some of the events listed below may need to be adjusted due to mandates imposed by state and local authorities.
The first item we'd like to share is that we have applied for and received a waiver for the Minnesota State Legion Baseball President to be allowed to combine all players from both high schools onto all teams. This will allow us to assemble teams that are more competitive with surrounding area teams. The plan is to have an 'A' and 'B' level team at both Senior and Junior, depending on the number of players available.
We are also working on setting game and tournament schedules for the upcoming 2021 season. Below is a list of events we are planning for this season.
Players and parents must sign and return the form below to the coaches to be allowed to participate in any team activities.
If you should have any questions please contact Mark Scott.
Below is a list of suggestions and expectations for players, coaches and families based on the “Safe Play: Back to the Diamond” plan.
● Add sanitizer stations at each field for practices and games
● Sanitize dugouts between games, no dugout usage for practices
● Keep bathroom doors open
● Add colored duct tape along fences past the dugouts and pitching area to indicate appropriate distancing
● Players would be in the dugouts and down the foul lines in pitching area when game are held
● Each player can have only immediate family as spectators at each game, with no spectators allowed for practices
● Coaches/Managers sanitize any shared bats/gear between usage and games
● For catchers, only one person to use one set of catcher’s gear per game
● No sunflower seeds
● Players wear masks in the dugout
*These are all subject to change based on Governor Walz’s Task Force and MBL guidelines.
We are working with the youth baseball consortium to put together a league for the summer of 2020. We are not guaranteed the ability to hold games at this time but are preparing for the season to begin with games starting around June 15th, if the governor and the MDH are allowing this to happen. Once we get their go ahead, we will work directly with the City of Bloomington to find the best set up for parents and player to continue to have a safe and exciting baseball season.
The governor and the Minnesota Department of Health have provided the following direction for youth sports, effective Monday, June 1st, 2020.
The mission of the Bloomington Legion Program is to develop its players both mentally and physically for competition at the next level. Furthermore, it is the program's goal to provide our players an environment that gives them the opportunity to further develop their individual skills and experience personal achievement within a team atmosphere. We strive to provide the characteristics of good sportsmanship, honesty, respect, loyalty and a sense of teamwork through a positive competitive environment, so that our fine athletes may become strong, healthy, well-adjusted members of the community.
